Which gas card should you get?
January 22nd, 2008 by admin
Just about every gas station you stop at has their own company branded gas card. And it can be tempting to apply for one of these cards since they will usually give you an introductory rate of 5-10% cash back and 3% back after the introductory period.
However, those savings come with a catch. Your gas card only gives you those dramatic savings when you fill up at that station.
For example, let’s say that the gas station you normally fill up at is a Shell. While this may work for you most of the time, it rarely is convenient all of the time. For example, you may be traveling and need to fill up on gas. However, you may discover that there isn’t one readily available. In this case you’ll need to fill up with gas and your gas card won’t give you any savings.
One solution to the problem with proprietary gas cards is to get a card that will give you cash back at all gas stations. That card is the Discover Open Road Card, and it is the best gas card on the market right now.
