My brother and I were talking on the phone a few nights ago, and he told me that he had some big news.  I asked him what it was, and he said that he had been taking guitar lessons from the guitar player of a band that I used to listen to.  I asked him who it was, and he told me that it was these jamplay lessons, that he found online.  He said that there were a number of guitar players from some bands that were teaching on there, and he was taking lessons from them.  I knew that I would have to check it out.

Card Making Monsters

I was trying to think of some activities to do with my kids and was stumped. Valentines day was coming up and then it hit me–card making! We have such a large family with relatives galore and buying cards can get pretty costly. So why not make cards? You cant beat saving money, spending time together and giving a home made, heart felt gift. The kids actually loved making cards. They are very excited to give their daddy home made cards for Valentines day. In fact, they have already started asking about St. Patty’s day and Easter. I think I’ve created card making monsters!

Learning Curve

When I first began playing the guitar, I had no idea what a learning curve was going to be required. I imagined myself just picking up a guitar and suddenly playing like a pro after my first lesson. Unfortunately, this was way far away from the truth. As it turned out I had to play countless minor pentatonic scales to get used to the fingering. It was well worth it, though, because I will never forget the information I learned. Even if my mind forgets for a moment, my fingers literally remember where they are supposed to go and what they are supposed to do.

Falling In Love With A Left Handed Sitar

Even when I was still a kid, I already started playing several instruments. I am lucky that both my parents are wonderful musicians, and I got my skills in playing instruments from them. My father recently introduced me to a left handed sitar. I immediately fell in love with the sitar. I wasted no time and started playing it. I may not be as good as my father, but I am still happy because playing this instrument is exciting and challenging. I do hope that I will learn how to play more instruments in time. I want to be as good as my mom and dad.

Dancing is a great form of exercise and for me, I’d rather take dancing lessons than go to the gym and spend the whole day on those really confusing equipment. My sister is presently taking ballet dancing lessons and I always make it a point to join her on her every session. Her birthday is next month and I’ve been thinking of giving her a present. I think she will like the idea of having a new pair of ballet leotards. I’ve consulted advice from an expert and she gave me some really good pointers. My sister will be surprise once she found out that I bought her a really good pair of ballet leotards.

Learning The Picking Styles

I was just at a concert the other day, and I was noticing the different kinds of guitar playing that some of the other bands were doing. It made me feel good to know that there were so many things that I could still learn. I am a musician myself, but I was amazed at some of the picking that was going on. That is why I am going to learn alternate picking. I want to continue to grow as a musician so I can become even better, and write even better songs that are even more amazing than the ones I have already written.
