Singing Kumbaya in Choir

During our recent choir reunion, we sang Kumbaya. I know I’ve been told before what that means, but I forgot. I looked at the bottom of the sheet music and it said it was a term that came from the phrase, “Come by here.” So when it says, “Kumbaya, my Lord”, that gave it more meaning to me. It asks for jesus christ to come during difficult times. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to sing songs about Jesus Christ with old friends and for the spiritually uplifting experience it was.
