Heartburn Articles Of Interest

I’ve been fortunate enough never to have suffered heartburn, though one of my sisters seems to get it a lot. I often think she lives on antacids. And i know some of the guys who come into the shop where I work seem to buy a packet of antacids a day. Some of them even buy a packet when they buy some greasy or fatty take-away food we sell - which kind of seems silly to me, but I guess if you’ve got a real craving for something, then it seems worth it at the time. Maybe they know they’re just going to get heartburn whatever they eat, so they may as well enjoy it!
Food can trigger hearburn, though. Spicy and fatty foods are common culprits, though chocolate, wine, bread, and citrus fruit can also contribute. It’s pretty weird that bread and other grain foods can cause heartburn - makes you wonder if there’s some kind of food intolerance going on. I’d find it pretty hard to live without chocolate, so those that have that as a trigger have my commiserations!
Of course, you don’t have to live on antacids if you suffer from heartburn, as Gilbey Scott’s articles on heartburn show. There’s some great tips there for dealing with heartburn naturally - and even a special remedy for seniors!
