Prostate Cancer Screening

April 29th, 2008 by admin

I am interested in getting screened for prostate cancer since we have a history of it in my family. I haven’t had any of the prostate cancer symptoms, but I want to minimize my risk by getting regular prostate cancer screenings each year. From what I understand, there are two parts to prostate cancer screening, a digital rectal exam and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test. These are used in combination since other prostate problems could also raise the levels of PSA in the blood. I am not looking forward to the rectal exams, but I figure it is worth it to keep me from being too worried.
