Learning About Life in the Outback

It has always intrigued me how some people can live in the middle of nowhere, far away from other people and the services available in the cities. I am interested in learning more about the outback australia and how people live there. Can anyone tell me where I can find out more about this? I would love to see some videos or read some books or websites about life in the outback, but I don’t know which ones are worth the time. I would love to get some recommendations from people who know about good ones. I love learning about different cultures and different ways of living.
