San Antonio Pest Control Battles The Roach
October 30th, 2009 by admin
Cockroaches are among the most acclimatized insects on the planet. Preferring the solace of warm climates and considered intolerant to cold, cockroaches are resilient enough to survive occasional freezing temperatures; making it increasingly difficult to eradicate them, once they have infested an area. Some species can remain active for an entire month, without food or water. In fact, roaches have been known to survive on very limited resources; such as the glue from a postage stamp, or the oil from a fingerprint. In laboratory experiements, it was shown that some cockroaches can go without air for up to 45 minutes; and were able to recover from being submerged underwater, for half an hour.
The general preventive measures, to guard against common household pests, including:
keeping all food stored in sealed containers, use garbage cans with covers, frequent cleaning (especially in the kitchen), and regular vacuuming;
all apply to the prevention of a cockroach invasion. As well, any dripping faucets should be repaired, and entry points, such as holes around baseboards, between kitchen cabinets, pipes, entrances, and windows should be sealed with cement, putty or silicone caulking.
If your DIY solution is not effective, pest control specialists in the San Antonio area are well aware of the implications of a roach invasion, contributing factors to the development; and a homeowners’ concern for their property, family and friends. As such, dependable Industry experts can apply a pest control San Antonio style treatment to eliminate roaches; while ensuring the safety of everyone in and around the home.
