Tips to Start the Nitrogen Cycle for Your Freshwater Tropical Fish Aquarium
May 31st, 2009 by admin
Maintaining nitrogen cycle is an easy process if you are able to understand it correctly. Start by adding 2 to 3 resilient fish to your new freshwater aquarium. These fish generally have a small amount of bacteria in their digestive system and they will release them into the tank. Keep the power heads on because the released bacteria will depend on nutrients and oxygen of your tank. You can speed up the cycle by adding gravels from an established tank to your new tank. In addition, you can add one teaspoon of Stress Zyme that contains millions of beneficial bacteria. Keep testing the water with the help of test kits until ammonia level drops and nitrate level rise. Finally, after 6-8 weeks, add few freshwater tropical fish and enjoy.
