Quilting Fabric Collection: Incredible Facts

July 31st, 2009 by admin

In quilt stitching, layers of fabric are spun together and designed intricately to give an aesthetic finish. In a quilt an insulating fabric such as wool or polyester is wadded in between the top and bottom covering fabric. Quilting is achieved by hand stitching or with sewing and longarm quilt machines meant for that purpose.

In the case of hand quilting, a needle and thread passes through all 3 layers of fabric held by a quilting frame and the needle is brought back to form quilt. The sewing machines are involved in flattening out the fabric and then tacking them together. These longarm quilting systems eliminates the need for tacking or pinning as in case of sewing machines and yields better results. My next post will be about, quilting fabric collection.
