Jon Lester was in control in seven innings and Jeremy Hermida homered and drove in three runs to help the Boston Red Sox beat the Yankees 9-3 Sunday in New York and salvage the final game of the series.

After two defeats 10-3 and 14-3, the Red Sox finally coordinated their hitting and pitching and ended the six-game winning streak for the Yankees.

Lester (3-2), who had allowed only one earned run in his last 20 and two thirds innings, won his third straight start. A.J. Burnett (4-1) worked four innings and allowed nine runs, matching a personal cap in Fenway Park also recorded on 22 August. Red Sox vs. Yankees Tickets
