Someone Help! – How to Read Guitar Tabs

I am new to the music scene and I just got my first instrument. It is a fender guitar that I really do love, but I am having a very hard time playing it. Can someone please give me some information on the guitar such as how to read guitar tabs? I am having trouble figuring out which steps I should take first in order to learn how to play this instrument well. I do want to play it, but I have never been really good with music or band. Any information that you would be willing to share would be greatly appreciated by me. Thank you in advance for your help.
