Spelling the Phonics Program

I absolutely love the way that I am helping my child learn the alphabet and I love that she is enjoying learning to read. We have a great time when we go to a new bookstore together and my eyes light up just as big as hers when she sees a book that she wants to get because she can figure out most of the words in it. The clever thing is that the phonics program teaches a lot of sight words. If this is the case, why didn’t they name it fonics so that when the kids sounded it out they would get it right the first time.
