Creating a Fast Pace

October 23rd, 2009 by admin

The purpose of speed drills is to create a fast pace agility in the mind as well as the body.  When the mind is trained to think fast, the body will respond in like manner.  There are lots of ways to do speed drills, and some people think first of side to side obstacle course running.  But in the 1990s I had a teacher who said to develop the quicker brain was just as important if not more.  He had us start indoors, sitting at a table stacking and unstacking plastic cups or containers.  Timing and agility were important and required almost flawless coordination skills.  After simple skills were mastered and our times improved he took us out to the field and incorporated those skills into other areas.  Try it!
